Tutoring and Test Preparation

Welcome to the Tutoring and Test Prep Division of Marks Counseling Associates, LLC (MCA)! We are conveniently located in downtown Bethesda at 4827 Rugby Avenue, Suite 001.

MCA offers tutoring services for almost all independent and parochial school, college and graduate school standardized tests, for high school academic subjects, and for tailored work on study skills.  Our tutors are Nitin Sawhney (nitin@marksca.com), who directs the Tutoring Division, Daniel Bloss (dbloss@marksca.com), Jill Salisbury (jsalisbury@marksca.com), Nisha Sardella (nsardella@marksca.com) and Phillip Chang (pchang@marksca.com).

MCA offers custom designed materials for test preparation, including workbooks tailored to the test and a vocabulary list and flash cards compiled from, among other sources, published College Board tests.  We proctor standardized tests every Sunday, and by appointment.  All practice standardized tests are free.

This year our students saw an average score increase of 340 points from their Sophomore year PSAT to their final SAT. Their average cumulative SAT score was 2170. Students whom we advised to take the ACT rather than the SAT saw similar gains. Their average score increase between the Sophomore PSAT and their highest ACT was 7.3 ACT points, making the average ACT score 32.3 (comparable to 2150 on the new SAT). Our tutors take the SAT and other standardized tests multiple times a year to monitor carefully the changing trends in the tests they tutor.
