We primarily offer our counseling services in annual packages for pre-high school, ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders, ideally beginning in the summer before the start of each grade.

On a space-available basis, Mrs. Marks, Mrs. Hancock and Mrs. Fernandez will, in a telephone conference or in-person meeting, provide an hour of advice and counseling to students and parents facing difficult issues or choices related to the college admissions process. These services are also available for students who may be considering gap year options, either before or during college; current college students wishing to transfer; and students applying to graduate school.

Also, on a space-available basis, we also offer a one-time initial assessment for new clients.

Charges for College Counseling Packages

We primarily offer our services in year-long packages, following the academic calendar: July 1 through June 30.

For the 2008-09 school year, or any portion thereof, our package charges are:

Entering Senior: $8,000
Entering Junior: $6,400
Entering Sophomore: $4,000
Entering Freshman: $2,900
Pre-High School: $1,750
Initial Assessment: $2,000
Problem-Solving: $650

If you enroll during an academic year, we offer the same services within a more condensed time frame.

Package clients continuing with Marks Counseling Associates, LLC, for more than one year can expect fees for follow-on years to be less than comparable fees for new families.

A family’s package fee entitles them to the services described in our Statement of Services. Services will be provided by Nina Marks and one of her colleagues. Mrs. Marks and one of her colleagues will participate in all family meetings, and individually or together we will respond to questions and provide self-advocacy tutoring. Within reason, our package charge also includes additional counseling, by phone or in person, to deal with special circumstances and problems.

Charges for Other Counseling Services

In addition to our Package Services for high school students, we offer other services on a space-available basis.

Initial Assessment

On a space-available basis, we offer a one-time "Initial Assessment" for new pre-high school and high school clients who do not choose to participate in a year-long package. The assessment will include two meetings with students and parents: the first to pull together needed information, and the second to review this information and provide recommendations suitable to the student’s grade level.

If, during the same academic year, you choose to continue working with Marks Counseling Associates, LLC, beyond the initial assessment, we will assist you with curriculum and standardized testing issues, advice about extracurricular opportunities, application-related essays and interviews, and the other package services more fully detailed above. Your initial assessment fee will be applied towards the cost of the year-long package.

Fee: $2,000

Problem-Solving Counseling

On a space-available basis, Mrs. Marks and one of her colleagues will, in a telephone conference or in-person meeting, provide an hour of advice and counseling to students and parents facing difficult issues or choices related to the college admissions process. These services are also available for students who may be considering gap year options, either before or during college; current college students wishing to transfer; and students applying to graduate school.

If, during the same academic year, you choose to continue working with Marks Counseling Associates, LLC, beyond the problem-solving counseling, we will assist you with curriculum and standardized testing issues, advice about extracurricular opportunities, application-related essays and interviews, and the other package services more fully detailed above. Your problem-solving counseling fee will be applied towards the cost of the year-long package.

Fee: $650/hour for telephone conference or in-person meeting, with a minimum of one hour. If you would like us to review any information before the meeting, the hourly rate also applies to our preparation time.
